Hello,

we have a Linux Server with
Intel Clearwater Motherboard SE7500CW2SC
with dual XEON 2.4 processor.
The Linux Version is SUSE Enterprise Server 7 for IA32.

In the boot.msg I find the following lines:

Here is the complete boot log.

 <<boot.msg.txt>>
Does the error message indicate a problem which
should be solved (leading to instability of the system...)?
The machine works as a SAP Server, so stability is important
for us.

If you need further details please let me know.

What has changed?

(it sounds like it worked previously, since you say
"no longer can bring X windows up").

I added a IBM MULTIBURNER PLUS (Rambo IV) OPTION. The system found and installed three, 3, cdrom drives and seven, 7, dvd drives. I could still read and write cd's and dvd's for about two, 2, weeks, and then on a reboot - no more windows. I have unplugged the Super dvd drive, but no change. Now if I plug the Super dvd drive in I lose my cdrom drive.

Well, that didn't help (me) any.
And that's all that changed.... ?

Yes - I have tried to look at any changes, additions/deletions upgrades, that may have occurred and I cannot find anything on this system. I even looked at the kde and qt members from the original Suse 8.0 cd just to be sure I was running the original software. Everything matches. I have a CTX CPG1772E 17" monitor on this system and I have modified XF86Config to match the suggested configuration from the floppy that came with the Monitor. I try to run sax2 in level 3, init 3, and the system says that "Signal out of range 79.8 Khz 74.9 Hz. I modified the XF86Config file to match the monitor specifications that came with the monitor. No help.

It seems like an X configuration problem especially if you can't get sax
to configure X correctly. I would suggest loading the default
/etc/X11/XF86Config file from the X rpm and then give sax a go again.

Earle
